Finish This! Week #23

This game is called "Finish This," and all you have to do is finish the following prompts and link up your post below! You can also visit the other hosts of this party on their fun blogs: Nicole {Three 31} Lisa {Coastlined}, Jen {The Arizona Russums} and Becky {The Java Mama}.

The best compliment I ever received … was being told that I'm doing a good job as a mom.  Being a first time mom is scary. Everything is new and exciting but you wonder if you really are doing a good job?  I mean, people ask me questions I don't know the answers to, then of course I question am I not doing enough?  (Ie: What milestones should G be reaching at 5 months.. umm.. well.... )  Yeah I haven't read that far.  I'm just so darn excited my sweet boy is laughing that I forget to try and figure out what comes next.  I used to be such a planner but with G I just love living in the moment with him!

Wearing red lipstick makes me feel … obnoxious.  I'm not a bright lipstick color girl and I most definitely am not one to EVER wear red.  I don't ever want to be someone who stands out for any reason and most definitely not because I wear red lipstick. It would make me feel self-conscious and Lord knows I don't need another reason to feel that way!

The best investment I’ve made … while I'd like to say my education because that certainly is costly each month as I watch my bank account dwindle from both undergrad and grad loans... it has not been the best investment (i've worked for the same company for 15 years and having advanced degrees simply do not matter). By far hands down it has been my house.  I bought it in 2011 as a foreclosure and it only needed cosmetic updates. We have had so much fun (err.. Rather, I have had fun) with all of the changes we've made the house.  I'm not handy but Adam is and every time I start a sentence with "Honey.. I have an idea..."  He nearly runs away.  Currently we are repairing our roof, adding a wrap around deck, re-doing our bathroom, and finishing our garage (and heating it.)  This winter I plan to repaint our cabinets and I'd like to start building (thank you Pinterest!) our Farmhouse style bed.

My best childhood memory … spending days at my Grandma Kay's house.  She had a candy drawer and always bought the best (Apricot) Fruit-Roll ups.  She played and played and played with me (and my brothers) until she simply couldn't play anymore. I have such fond memories of playing cards (Crazy 8s, slapjack, and memory) with her at a very young age.  She was a pretty amazing grandma!

Now it’s your turn. Answer these prompts in a post on your own blog or, if you do not have a blog, simply add your responses in a comment. Join us next Wednesday for another round of Finish This where we’ll answer the prompts below!

Prompts for WEEK 24 (June 18) are:
I could spend all day …
My primary and most essential goal in life …
You might be surprised to learn …
My favorite place in the world is …
I wish I had known sooner …

  1. Great post this week! I agree a million percent on the red lipstick, I'm NOT a lipstick wear-er either, of any color. We purchased our home, also a foreclosure, in 2007 and have done minimal work as well ---- but mostly because neither my Husband or I are crafty or DIY-savvy or even have the desire to change much. Before moving in, my mom and aunts helped me really DEEP clean the entire place, it had sat empty for 15 months. The only cosmetic changes we've made are interior paint and the remodeling of the master bathroom. It was a pretty significant project (lasted about four months) but it really needed to be done. Brass fixtures, builder-grade cabinets, and the smallest shower you've ever seen HAD TO GO.

  5. Oh, updating a house and making it your own sounds like such a fun and wonderful experience... from a ladies perspective. I'm sure I wouldn't be saying that if I were actually doing the manual labor!
